The PlayStation Portal has never seen an official discount, but you can now save by opting for a used model. Amazon Resale (formerly Amazon Warehouse) currently has 'Used - Like New' PS Portal units in stock for just $158.70 with free shipping. Compared to its $199 retail price, that's a solid 20% saving. A Sony warranty might not be included, but these Amazon Resale items come with the standard 30-day return policy. We anticipate this deal will sell out fast.

The PS Portal is Sony's handheld accessory for the PS5, resembling a DualSense controller split and fused around an 8-inch 1080p LCD screen. It transforms your PS5 into a portable console by streaming games from it at up to 60fps. The controller retains key DualSense features like haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, and a touchscreen that replaces the touchpad. You can even stream games away from home, provided you have an exceptionally stable and fast internet connection. Remember, the Portal is not a standalone device; it's a dedicated remote player requiring a PS5 to function.
Update: A PS5 is no longer mandatory for the PS Portal. Sony has introduced a new feature allowing owners to stream games directly from its PlayStation Plus cloud service. This means you're no longer limited to streaming from a local $500 console. Portal users can now choose to connect to their PS5 as before or directly to Sony's servers. Opting for cloud access opens up a library of over 120 games, including Ghost of Tsushima, Resident Evil 3 Remake, The Last of Us Part I, and Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales. Note that this requires a subscription to the highest tier of PlayStation Plus, but at $18 a month, it's a more accessible option than a large upfront console cost plus individual game purchases.
It's worth mentioning the PlayStation Portal isn't the only way to stream PS5 games over home Wi-Fi. You can replicate its function using the PS Remote Play app on other devices, including phones or handhelds like the Steam Deck. However, that setup can be more complex and often sacrifices some DualSense features.
PlayStation Portal Review by Seth Macy
"The PlayStation Portal is the most surprisingly delightful device I've ever tested, especially given my initial skepticism. It offers a vastly superior experience compared to using a phone with a clip-on controller and performed far better than I expected. I truly appreciate the freedom it grants to play PS5 games from anywhere with decent WiFi, a boon when my family occupied the TV. Crucially, it's not a standalone device and absolutely requires a PlayStation 5. Its main drawbacks are the inability to connect to WiFi networks that require browser authentication and a lack of Bluetooth audio support. For now, it's the best Remote Play solution available. Without those two puzzling limitations, I'd consider it a must-own for any PS5 owner who enjoys handheld gaming or shares the living room TV."
