Tute Cabrero is a beloved card game throughout South America, known for its strategic depth and engaging gameplay. It is designed for 3 to 5 players, where each participant competes individually without any teams.
The primary goal of Tute Cabrero is to accumulate either the highest or the lowest number of points, depending on the agreed-upon rules of the game—known as "go to more" or "go to less." The player who finishes second in the scoring loses. The game is played using a deck of 40 Spanish cards.
In terms of card hierarchy and scoring, the order from highest to lowest is as follows: Ace (valued at 11 points), 3 (10 points), King (4 points), Knight (3 points), Jack (2 points), and then 7, 6, 5, 4, and 2, which do not contribute any points.
During gameplay, the first card played in a trick sets the leading suit. Players must follow suit if possible. If a player cannot follow suit, they may play any card. The trump suit always wins the trick, but if no trump cards are played, the highest card of the leading suit takes the trick.
