Introducing Agadon the Hunter, the new adversary set to take the place of the Marauder in DOOM: The Dark Ages. Far from being just an upgraded version, Agadon is a distinct enemy, blending traits from multiple bosses into a formidable foe. With the ability to dodge, evade, and even deflect projectiles aimed by the Doom Slayer, Agadon presents a unique challenge. Players will face a variety of combo attacks, necessitating the use of a sawtooth shield, a mechanic reminiscent of Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, a game that significantly inspired the developers. The encounter with Agadon is designed to be the ultimate test, serving as a final exam of all the skills players have honed throughout the game.
The developers have chosen to maintain the concept of a challenging boss, similar to the Marauder, confident that players are eager for an intensified challenge. However, they recognize that the previous issues stemmed not from the difficulty itself, but from how it was presented and explained. Many mechanics needed to defeat the Marauder were introduced abruptly, without prior use in the campaign, leading to player dissatisfaction due to the sudden shift in gameplay pace. To rectify this, the developers aim to introduce mechanics more smoothly and prepare players better, ensuring a more satisfying experience.

DOOM: The Dark Ages is slated for release on May 15, 2025, and will be available on current-gen consoles (PS5, Xbox Series) and PC (Steam).
