Monster Hunter Wilds Harassment Concerns

CEDEC 2025 Optimization Talk Cancelled

Monster Hunter Wilds development team cancels CEDEC 2025 presentation

The Monster Hunter Wilds development team has withdrawn from a scheduled technical lecture at the Computer Entertainment Developers Conference 2025 (CEDEC 2025) in Yokohama, Japan, citing harassment concerns. As reported by Automaton on July 7, Capcom stated the talk was cancelled without providing specific reasons.

The planned lecture, titled "Optimizing Monster Hunter Wilds for Smooth Performance," would have covered techniques for achieving stable frame rates and efficient resource management, including CPU/GPU optimization and memory usage.

The cancellation likely stems from escalating online harassment surrounding the game's technical performance, particularly its PC version.

Escalating Player Backlash Over Performance Issues

Following the game's launch, players have increasingly criticized Wilds' optimization, particularly on PC where it received "Overwhelmingly Negative" reviews on Steam.

On July 4, Capcom addressed these concerns on Twitter/X, outlining upcoming stability improvements including CPU/VRAM optimizations and bug fixes related to Title Update 2.

Capcom addresses harassment in official statement

The company also published an official statement addressing the harassment issues on July 4, acknowledging player feedback while condemning unacceptable behavior. Capcom stated they take all feedback seriously but will not tolerate threats, slander, or harassment across review platforms and social media.

The publisher has implemented "Customer Harassment Response Guidelines" based on Japanese labor ministry recommendations, reserving the right to deny service and pursue legal action against abusive behavior including personal attacks, business disruption threats, and defamation.

Capcom shares update at Annual General Meeting

During Capcom's Annual General Meeting on July 7, shareholders raised concerns about "content volume and optimization issues" in recent releases. Company representatives assured attendees that the development team is actively analyzing feedback and will continue improving the game through updates.
